What We Believe

"And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God..."
- Colossians 1:9-10 -
God's Word
  • We believe that God has revealed himself to mankind through the word of God. Thus, we seek to uphold the Bible as being completely inspired by God as the Holy Spirit inspired men to write these words (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
  • Because the Bible is God revealing himself to us, the Bible is our standard for everything that we do. We seek to live, worship, and come to salvation based on what God has revealed to us in Scripture. We seek to do everything not because it is what we want, but because it is what God demands from us.

Worship
  • Lord's Supper
    • Every Sunday, we partake of the Lord's Supper. First, we will eat unleavened bread which represents Christ's body that was broken for us on the cross. Second, we will drink the fruit of the vine as it represents Christ's blood that was shed for the remission of sins (Acts 20:7; Matthew 26:26-29).
  • Singing
    • Each time we gather, we sing songs of praise in an a cappella format in our worship to God (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). One male song leader will select the songs before every service.
  • Praying
    • Each time we gather, we offer up prayers to God when we gather in our worship service (1 Timothy 2:8). Prayers consist of various needs and thanksgivings as they appear in our daily lives and our led by our Christian men.
  • Preaching
    • Each time we gather, a message from God's word will be proclaimed in order to encourage us and challenge us to grow as Christians (2 Timothy 4:1-5; Acts 20:7b).
  • Giving
    • Every Sunday, due to convenience, our members find it appropriate to give monetarily in order to support the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). If you are a visitor, do not feel obligated to give.

Salvation
  • Recognition of Sin
    • Before a sinner can receive salvation, they must first recognize their need for salvation. Man has sinned from the beginning of time and no one can live a life that is free from sin (Romans 3:23; 3:10).
    • The sins of a sinner has caused a strain in a relationship with God (Isaiah 59:1-2).
    • A sinner cannot be saved by living a moral life. Forgiveness is needed (Isaiah 64:6).
  • The Gospel
    • Although mankind cannot live sinlessly, we believe that Jesus did just that as he was God in the flesh (Hebrews 4:15).
    • In his sacrifice on the cross, Jesus was able to atone for the sins of humanity as his blood has the power to forgive the sins of the sinner (Romans 3:21-26; Matthew 26:28).
    • Jesus was able to conquer death as he rose again after being in the tomb for three days (Matthew 28:1-8; 1 Corinthians 15).
    • Paul summarizes the gospel by referring to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ that has brought salvation to mankind (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
  • By Grace Through Faith
    • Jesus died for the sins of the world (John 3:16). Salvation cannot be earned. It is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8b). However, this does not mean that salvation is unconditional. Man must meet certain conditions to receive this gift from God.
    • Scripture reveals that sinners can be saved by the grace of God, through a proper faith response (Ephesians 2:8).
    • The proper faith response can best be seen through the numerous examples found in the book of Acts.
    • Believe: A sinner seeking salvation must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that, because of his death, he has the power to forgive sins and transform a sinner into a saint (Mark 16:16; Acts 16:31).
    • Repentance: A sinner seeking salvation must be willing to leave past sins behind and live a new, transformed life (Matthew 16:24; Acts 2:38).
    • Confession & Baptism: A sinner seeking salvation receives forgiveness of sins by imitating the gospel through baptism. Upon being completely immersed in water a sinner will symbolically come in contact with the blood of Christ, be added to the church, and raise out of the waters a new creation (Romans 6:3-4; Acts 2:38,47b; Galatians 3:26-27).
  • Faithful Living
    • God's plan from the beginning of time was for Christians to be like Jesus (Romans 8:29).
    • Thus, it is our goal to be like Jesus in all that we do. This is possible because of the example that Christ left for us (1 Peter 2:21; 1 Corinthians 11:1).

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)
